"I am Dr. George Cochran; feel free to call me Dr. George. I have created smiles on the same street in Napoleon since I graduated from Ohio State University in 1974. For the first five years, I practiced with my brother, Dr. Philip Cochran in the building two doors from our current office. When we outgrew the office, I moved down the street three doors and practiced there until December of 2000.
In January, 2001 we opened our new facility at the current location of 1066 Chelsea Avenue. We are very proud of the office, a modern structure with an open airy feeling and lots of light. After practicing in rather cramped quarters, it is wonderful to work in such a lovely office. Unfortunately, thanks to our great family of patients, we are slowly outgrowing our new facility!
I graduated from Napoleon High School in 1968, and entered The Ohio State University, knowing from day one that I wanted to graduate from dental school. I entered a combined curriculum that allowed me to complete an eight year program in six and a half years. Thus, I graduated from Ohio State’s undergraduate school in 1972 and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in late 1974.
I enjoy practicing dentistry every day. I do not know what I would be doing had I not entered the profession. The day to day challenges of recreating healthy teeth and happy smiles is very rewarding. Often people comment about how, “It must be terrible being a dentist, having everyone hate to see you.” Nothing could be farther from the truth! Patients enter with horrible expectations, and after treatment with our gentle dental care, they leave with a better feeling about their health, their smile, and me! I take pride in assuring each patient that I will not work on them until they are totally numb, and I take satisfaction in treating each patient as I would want to be treated. That is why we say “We Cater To Cowards”.
When growing up, I hated two things. (Well, maybe three if you count spinach.) Piano lessons were taught by my Aunt Jo, my mother’s sister. When I had not practiced much, the message reached my mother before I made it home. Boy, were those fun times. My other thorn in my side was dental appointments. Since I rarely brushed except before going to dentist, I experienced many dental procedures. You see, I also have a degree in “Dental Patient” having spent a great deal of time in the “CHAIR”. Much to my dismay, rarely did I get very numb and when I did, I was already home. I have sworn to myself to never let that happen to my patients.
I have twelve children. My oldest daughter is Natasha Cruz, who works with me in the office. My second daughter Nicole Cochran, is a Human Resources Administrator at The Ohio State University College of Psychology. I also have ten adopted children with various backgrounds ranging from South Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese to Honduran, Paraguayan, and Guatemalan. Adopting these children has been by far the greatest accomplishment of my life. Prayerfully this was a win/win/win situation. A child received a home, I was blessed with wonderful children to raise me, and a mother somewhere could rest assured that her children were loved and well cared for. Please consider adoption, there are millions of children who could benefit for a home such as yours.
My family is currently growing and soon I will have nine beautiful grandchildren.
Between the family and work, I stay pretty busy. In my spare time, I love Ohio State Athletics. I enjoy reading and an occasional round of golf. Cedar Point my all time favorite place to visit, but I seem to be riding less and less each year. I hope that I get the opportunity to meet you. My goal for my practice is to present the best options for restoring your mouth to a healthy smile. If I can do that for you in a manner that is as painless as possible, I have succeeded. I know I might never make you love going to the dentist, but if I can make it a place that you don’t mind, we have both accomplished a great feat. May God bless you with good health and happy thoughts."
Dr. Alison grew up in Maumee, Ohio. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Toledo and then went on to Miami University where she obtained a degree in Zoology and The Ohio State University School of Dentistry. Before becoming a dentist, Dr. Alison worked at a dental office helping the hygienists and every day flow of the dental office. During her last year in dental school she took part in Ohio Project through OSU, which allowed her to travel around the state doing outreach dentistry.
Dr. Alison and her husband, David moved back to Northwest Ohio after finishing up her studies in 2013. In 2014 they welcomed their first child, Olivia. They enjoy spending time with their families, cheering on The Toledo Mudhens, walking The Rails to Trails, hiking at Oak Openings, and enjoying ice cream at the local ice cream shop. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, golf, refurbishing furniture, upcycling items and crafting.
Dr. Alison enjoys practicing general dentistry. She loves being able to treat all the members of a family, especially children. She believes that positive pediatric experiences can create a lifetime of great oral health. She has completed the Six-Month Smiles course allowing her to help adult patients who may not be satisfied with the appearance of their teeth. Her greatest joy is seeing the reactions of the patients when she is able to use her talents and help enhance their smiles and improve their self esteem.
She is a member of the American Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association, and the Toledo Dental Society
